On May 1st, 2024, we launched Films for a Better Society!, a 12-month creative journey that used the power of filmmaking to empower young voices and ignite positive change. The project centered on two urgent themes: environmental protection and social inclusion — and it did so not through lectures, but through cameras, scripts, and stories from the heart of Transylvania.

Five young participants, guided by professional mentors, embarked on an immersive process that took them from their very first screenplay all the way to public film screenings. Along the way, they learned not just the technical side of filmmaking — screenwriting, sound, editing — but also how to see their world through a sharper, more compassionate lens.

Gastronomy

In this documentary-style project, participants ventured into kitchens, markets, and homes to rediscover traditional dishes that are slowly disappearing from local memory. The film celebrates recipes passed down through generations — many of them unknown even to locals today.

This wasn’t just a culinary journey. It was a call to reconnect with sustainable, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients. By showcasing simple, natural cooking practices and regional biodiversity, the project emphasized the environmental value of eating locally — and the cultural inclusion that comes from preserving and sharing food heritage.

Green

Mobility

Our second documentary followed two passionate local cyclists as they explored bike-friendly routes. Rather than focusing on professional athletes or sport cyclists, the film took an everyday perspective — examining which routes are truly accessible, safe, and enjoyable for those who want to choose the bicycle as a practical means of transportation.

The cyclists guided us through scenic landscapes and sparked discussions about how greener, healthier mobility options can become part of everyday life — if we build the right conditions. The result is both a local cycling guide and a call to action for more inclusive, sustainable public spaces.

Key Objectives

Environmental Protection and Inclusion

Our initiative addresses critical global challenges by promoting environmental conservation and inclusivity. We focus on issues like sustainable living, climate action, and social cohesion, and provide a platform for young filmmakers to voice their perspectives through powerful visual narratives.

Skill Development

Participants will undergo comprehensive training in filmmaking, from conceptualization and scriptwriting to advanced production techniques like editing, sound design, and color grading. They will gain valuable insights into storytelling and digital tools, empowering them to create impactful films that resonate with audiences.

Workshops and Screenings

Throughout the project, we will conduct hands-on workshops, expert-led discussions, and inspiring public screenings. These events will engage diverse audiences and build connections between aspiring filmmakers, professionals, and community leaders. Our digital campaigns will further expand the reach of our message, aiming to impact over 30,000 young people.

Solidarity

-in action-

Our project embraces the spirit of collaboration and mutual support through a range of activities that encourage unity, empathy, and understanding. We actively promote cross-cultural dialogue, connect with youth across borders, and foster a culture of inclusion that transcends social and geographical boundaries. Whether it’s through collaborative film screenings, workshops designed to build trust, or digital campaigns that celebrate our shared humanity, we believe that storytelling can break barriers, inspire empathy, and ignite collective action. This solidarity approach ensures that each participant feels empowered, included, and ready to contribute to the broader vision of a more inclusive and harmonious society.

Films for a Better Society 2.0 is coming soon — New ideas, new voices, and more stories that need to be told.
